Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 5, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Sit and Tell collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Sit and Tell is operated by Brandon Burton as a sole proprietor. Sit and Tell holds personal family reflections, and we treat that content as sensitive.
Information we collect
- Account information: your email address, the name you go by, the names you and your family use for each other, your chosen weekly delivery day, and your time zone.
- Your content: the questions and answers you and your paired family members write or speak.
- Payment information: when you subscribe, Stripe collects and processes your payment details. We receive limited billing information, such as your subscription status, not your full card number.
- Usage and device information: basic analytics about how the site is used, collected through cookies and similar tools (see Cookies and analytics below).
How we use your information
We use your information to provide and operate the Service, including to: deliver your weekly question; save your answers; generate gentle follow-up questions; show answers to the family members you are paired with; send the emails that are core to the Service, such as weekly prompts and invitations; process your subscription; respond to your requests; and keep the Service secure. Notifications go out on the day each person chooses, not in real time.
AI and voice processing
To create follow-up questions, we send the relevant question and answer text to the Anthropic API. If you use voice input, your audio recording is sent to OpenAI to convert it to text, and follow-up questions may be read aloud using OpenAI text-to-speech. These providers process this content only to perform these tasks. We do not sell your content, and it is not used to train AI models. We do not keep the voice audio after it has been turned into text.
Where your data is stored
Your account information and content are stored with Supabase, our database and authentication provider, on servers located in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed there.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to run the Service:
- With the family members you are paired with. Sharing answers within your family is the purpose of the Service.
- With service providers who process data on our behalf: Supabase (database and authentication), Anthropic and OpenAI (AI features), Stripe (payments), and Resend (email delivery).
- For legal reasons, if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Service.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies for essential functions, such as keeping you signed in, and for analytics. We use Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel to understand how visitors find and use the site. These tools may set their own cookies and collect usage data subject to their own privacy policies. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
How we keep data secure
Each family’s data is isolated using database row-level security, so one family cannot access the information of another. We never log the content of answers. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your data, it is removed from our active systems, though limited copies may remain in routine backups for a short time before they expire.
Your choices and rights
- Read everything shared in your family from within the app.
- Export a copy of the questions and answers in your family from your account settings, as a readable text file and a PDF.
- Correct or update your answers at any time by editing them in the app.
- Delete your data (see Account deletion below).
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, including the right to request access to or deletion of your personal information. To exercise these, contact us at hello@sitandtell.com.
Account deletion
The account holder, the person who set up and pays for the family, can manage deletion from account settings. You can choose to cancel and keep the answers in your family readable, or to permanently delete them. Permanent deletion removes the questions, answers, names, and related records for your family and cannot be undone. You can also email us at hello@sitandtell.com to request deletion.
Children’s privacy
Sit and Tell is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the date above when we do, and where appropriate we will let you know.
