A community-based art project that seeks to connect communities through pulling up a chair and sharing stories of positivity about Strong Women of Toledo.

Artwork by Taylor Rupert

Story from Maria Rodriguez-Winter & Arturo Quintero

Sofia’s heritage as well as the work she did for Latinos in the Toledo area, inspired the Mexican style artwork for this chair. Maria and Arturo both spoke of Sofia’s vibrant personality, which is reflected in the colors. The eagle is representative of Sofia’s role as the first Latino President of the Toledo Board of Education. The eagle is surrounded by rectangular shapes, which symbolize stacked books for Maria’s passion for education.
