Story from Mohammed Alsaihati

After listening to Mohammed’s story of his Mother, I instantly tried to narrow the recollection down to one main idea. Since the project is already based on Strong Women, I decided I should combine this idea with Mohammed’s empowering story of the obstacles his Mother had to overcome. I first found a quote by Marge Piercy that I would utilize in the design and also create a visual based off of this. Next, the imagery was created digitally using the pen and pencil tool on illustrator. Since I wanted the design to relate to all women I decided to use a grayscale palette for the skin along with blue eyes, which represent knowledge, power, and integrity. I felt as though pairing this image with the Marge Piercy quote showed a great amount of strength and seriousness for all women alike. I thank Mohammed for his story, and even more so his Mother for being the Strong Woman that our society needs.
