Story from John McCarty

The story that I had received was about the life of a strong woman, Mary. She had been through the toughest times in American history, including the Great Depression and the World War II. During those tough times, rationing was something she learned to live by. So when her son John had asked her if she used cream and sugar in her coffee, she told him black coffee was all she needed. For me that connection between her valuing her past, being thankful for what you are blessed with, is truly what a powerful woman stands for. A strong woman can go through many hardships in her life, but still truly see the things to be thankful for everyday and be the listener and guidance to those around her.
