Story from Sarah Otis

The pattern was created from a quote said within the story, which states, “you can be much more than what the society wants you to be.” This saying was handwritten by the artist, to incorporate the letter writing from one of the storytellers’ influential women, and was overlapped to create individualistic shapes. These shapes were copy, pasted, reflected, and rotated to make the pattern. Within the pattern is a watercolor painting incorporating three colors, representative of the three women mentioned in the story. The overlaying colors represent the storyteller herself, since she has found influence from the important women in her life.
